Why Representation Matters
What does #representation mean to me? Absolutely everything.
Some of you will never know what it’s like to live in a society that consistently tells you there isn’t space for someone like you.
Some of you will never know what it’s like to grow up in a home where you’re told you can be anything you want to be, while society breaks you down in reminding you everyday that it is near impossible.
Some of you will never know what it feels like to struggle to see yourself in the highest positions of power simply because who you are has been labeled a statistic in having the slightest of chances to make it there.
Some of you will never know what it feels like to be the ONLY ONE in the room, made to feel inferior or even belittled just because of it.
Whether you like her or not, or approve of her past decisions or not, our first woman of color, Madam Vice President Kamala Harris, broke every single barrier that has been built in the minds of little black and brown girls all over the world.
She shattered that outdated and redundant mold by saying: there IS space for us and everything we dream to achieve IS possible.
THIS is what my America looks like. #makinghistory.
